First Aid

Affected? What now?

Report an incident

You should report the incident to your supervisor or the IT department immediately. The sooner you notice and report the incident, the faster specialists can be called in to try to limit the damage as much as possible. Even though it may seem embarrassing to fall for a phishing scam, it is not a big deal if you report the incident immediately to limit the damage. However, if you do not report the incident, perhaps out of shame or fear of the consequences, it can have devastating consequences for the company. In that case, you are also less protected legally and it is clearly your fault.

Guidelines

Remove devices from the network

If you notice that your device is no longer functioning as it should, you should remove it from the company network to prevent the spread of spam or theft of user data, for example. You should also refrain from logging into company software or portals with the device, as hackers could access them. The device should also not be connected to Wi-Fi to prevent hackers from gaining access.

Lock or change accounts

If you are affected by a cyber attack in your private life, it is important to change your passwords and block your accounts. If it has anything to do with your bank account, you should inform your bank and have your transactions monitored. In an emergency, you can also have your account blocked to be on the safe side.
